This is the longest stretch and the one where people lose motivation, because the knee feels fine and the work continues. ## Return to sport Here is the part that matters most, and the part most commonly got wrong. **Returning on a timescale rather than on measured criteria is associated with higher re-rupture rates.** A knee at nine months that has not regained quadriceps strength comparable to the other side is not ready, whatever the calendar says and however well it feels. So we measure. Strength side to side, a battery of hop and jump tests, landing and cutting control, and how all of that holds up once you are fatigued. Those results set the pace, and we will tell you honestly when you are not there yet.
