A video consultation works well for advice on a new problem, for progressing an exercise programme you are already working on, and for the conversations that would otherwise mean a round trip and half a day off work. We can see how you move on camera, watch you attempt the exercises and correct them, talk through what is going on and what to do about it, and set the next stage of the programme. **What we cannot do is put hands on you**, so where treatment is the point rather than the plan, we will tell you to come in. ## When a video appointment is the right choice It suits people working away, people who are housebound, people managing a long term programme between clinic visits, and anyone who wants an informed opinion on whether a new problem needs seeing at all. It is also useful in the days after an injury, when you want to know whether to rest it, ice it or get it looked at properly. ## When to come in instead If the problem is new and undiagnosed, hands on assessment is usually more accurate. If you need manual treatment, acupuncture or a piece of equipment, a video call cannot deliver it.
