What we can take on

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy

Spinal, upper limb and lower limb problems, persistent pain and work related strain, assessed and treated by chartered physiotherapists.

Post operative rehabilitation

Joint replacement, ACL reconstruction, shoulder and spinal surgery, worked to the surgeon's own protocol rather than a generic one.

Neurological rehabilitation

Stroke, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and balance and falls work. This is our most specialised area and we are happy to discuss complex cases before you refer.

Women's and pelvic health

Antenatal and postnatal physiotherapy, pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti and the menopause transition, seen by a clinician with specific pelvic health training.

Podiatry and biomechanics

Foot and lower limb assessment, gait analysis and custom orthotics, which is often the missing piece in a persistent knee, hip or back presentation.

Home and remote appointments

Home visits within about five miles of Haslemere, and video or telephone reviews for patients who cannot easily travel to the clinic.

Post operative and complex work

We routinely take patients straight from orthopaedic and neurosurgical teams and work to the surgeon's protocol rather than a generic one, so please send the operation note or rehabilitation guidance with the referral. For neurological patients we can see people at the clinic or at home, and we are used to working alongside NHS community teams, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists rather than in place of them. Where a patient needs equipment, an adaptation or an onward opinion we will say so in writing rather than continuing to treat.

Send the referral

Email reception@healthflex.co.uk with the patient's name, contact number, presenting problem and any relevant imaging or operation notes. A letter is welcome but not essential.

We contact the patient

Reception rings the patient to offer appointment times, and matches them to the clinician best suited to the presentation rather than simply the first free slot.

Assessment and plan

A first physiotherapy assessment takes 45 minutes, or 60 minutes for pelvic health. The patient leaves with a working diagnosis, a home programme and an estimate of how many sessions they are likely to need.

We report back

With the patient's consent we write to you after the initial assessment and again at discharge, or at whatever interval suits you. Tell us what you want and we will fit around it.

Referral questions

How do I refer a patient to Healthflex?
Email reception@healthflex.co.uk with the patient's name, contact number and presenting problem, or ring 01428 642577. A formal referral letter is helpful but not required, and imaging reports or operation notes are always useful.
Do patients need a referral to be seen?
No. Patients can self refer and most do. A referral from you is still valuable because it gives us the clinical background, and some insurers require a GP referral before they will authorise treatment.
How quickly can you see a patient?
Waiting times vary through the year. Ring reception on 01428 642577 and they will tell you the current position for the service you need rather than a generic figure.
Who pays for treatment?
Treatment is funded by the patient or through their private medical insurance. A first physiotherapy assessment is £72 and follow up sessions are £62, neurological physiotherapy is £82 and home visits are £95. If the patient is claiming on insurance, they should get an authorisation number from their insurer before the first appointment.
Will I get a report?
Yes, with the patient's consent. We normally write after the initial assessment and at discharge. If you would prefer a different reporting pattern, tell us when you refer.
Can you see patients at home?
Yes. Home visits cover Haslemere, Grayshott, Hindhead and Liphook, within about five miles of the clinic, and cost £95. They are used most often for neurological patients, post operative patients in the early stages and anyone who cannot travel. Ring reception with the postcode if you are not sure whether an address is covered.
Can I refer for podiatry or custom orthotics?
Yes. Our podiatry team carries out biomechanical assessment, gait analysis and custom orthotics, and works closely with the physiotherapists when a foot or lower limb problem is feeding into a knee, hip or back presentation.
Do you accept case management and medico legal referrals?
We work with case managers and insurers on rehabilitation packages. Please ring 01428 642577 to discuss the scope and reporting requirements before instructing us.
Can you treat NHS patients?
Healthflex is a private clinic, so treatment here is funded privately or through insurance. We are very happy to work alongside a patient's existing NHS team rather than duplicating it.
