Dietetics and IBS

A dietitian is a qualified and regulated health professional who assesses and treats problems with diet and nutrition. At Healthflex, dietetics is led by Liz Toft, a Gastro Allergy Specialist Dietitian with more than twenty five years in NHS practice, who sees adults with diagnosed digestive and food related allergic conditions.

Liz runs a clinic on the first Monday of every month, from 4pm to 8pm, at the clinic at The Edge on Woolmer Hill, Haslemere. The first clinic is on Monday 7 December. You can refer yourself, and appointments are arranged by phone or enquiry rather than online booking.

More information

Who the clinic is for

Liz works with adults who have a diagnosed gut or food related condition, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), coeliac disease, diverticular disease and pollen food syndrome. She also helps people who have become anxious about food because of their symptoms, which is more common than most people realise and can make eating feel like a constant calculation.

Before you book

If you have had gut symptoms for more than six months and have not yet seen your GP about them, please do that first. It is important to rule out other conditions before treating symptoms as IBS, and the NHS explains how IBS is diagnosed. See your GP straight away if you notice unexplained weight loss, bleeding from your bottom, or a lasting change to looser or more frequent stools, particularly if you are over sixty.

Fees

An initial consultation of up to sixty minutes is £140. Follow up appointments of up to forty five minutes are £110.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a GP referral to see the dietitian?
No. You can refer yourself. If you have had symptoms for more than six months and have not seen your GP about them, we recommend doing that first so other conditions can be ruled out.
How much does a dietitian appointment cost?
An initial consultation of up to sixty minutes is £140. Follow up appointments of up to forty five minutes are £110.
When is the dietetics clinic?
