Custom orthotics are insoles made to your measurements to change how your foot loads. They are worth their cost when the mechanical problem is genuinely yours and unusual, or when simpler measures have already been tried and have not held. They are not the answer to every sore foot, and we will tell you when a change of footwear or a strength programme would do the job instead.

What the price includes
The orthotics package is £480 and covers the initial consultation with foot and gait analysis, the impression and provision of the orthotics, the fitting, and all necessary follow up checks within the following twelve months.
That last part matters more than it sounds. Orthotics frequently need adjusting once you have worn them for a few weeks, because how a foot behaves in a clinic and how it behaves after eight hours on a shop floor are different things. A price that covers the follow ups means we can adjust them properly rather than you deciding whether a tweak is worth another appointment fee.
How long do they take to get used to
Usually a couple of weeks, worn for gradually increasing periods rather than all day from the start. Some aching in new places early on is normal, because you are changing how load travels up the leg. Pain is not, and if you get it, come back in and we will adjust them.
How long do they last
Several years for most people, depending on how much you are on your feet and what you are doing. A second or replacement pair within twelve months of the original provision is £255, and an orthotic check appointment is £55 for half an hour.
