Most recurring injuries are a strength problem wearing a disguise. A tendon that keeps flaring up, a hamstring that goes every season, a back that gives way each time work gets busy. Treatment settles the episode. Strength is what stops the next one.
A programme from us is written by a physiotherapist who knows your injury history, which is the difference from a generic plan. It is built around your sport, the equipment you actually have access to, and the time you realistically have rather than the time an ideal athlete would have.
More information
Who this is for
People coming to the end of treatment who want to make the improvement stick. Runners and cyclists who have never done any strength work and keep paying for it. People over fifty who have noticed things take longer to recover than they did. And anyone who has been handed a sheet of exercises before, done them for a fortnight and stopped, which is almost everybody.
Why physiotherapists rather than a gym programme
Because we start from what went wrong. If your knee pain comes from a hip that cannot control rotation, the programme needs to address that specifically, and a general lower body plan may well load the knee harder without fixing the cause. Once the specific work is in place, general strength on top of it is excellent for you.
How it works
An assessment first, so the programme is aimed at something. Then a written programme, and review appointments to progress it, because a strength programme that never gets harder stops working after about six weeks. How often you come back is up to you, and some people manage with one review every couple of months.
