Theika treats sports and musculoskeletal injuries, and her interest is as much in preventing the next one as in settling the current one. She offers manual techniques, acupuncture and exercise rehabilitation, and she looks at how the whole body is moving rather than only at the part that hurts.
Background
Theika qualified from Southampton University in 1997 with a BSc honours degree in physiotherapy, and has more than twenty years of experience as a sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist. She has developed that expertise across the NHS, private clinics and sports teams, travelling in Europe and the United Kingdom with premier league hockey teams. She is a chartered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Her approach
Having come from a sporting background herself, Theika understands how frustrating an injury is when it interrupts something you care about. Her aim is to get you fully functional as quickly as is sensible, and then to reduce the chance of the same thing happening again, on the basis that prevention is a great deal better than another course of treatment.
